Options for Creating Custom Reports

25Live comes with a variety of built-in reports (see also Running a Report) that can show you excerpts of your data in many different formats, based on searches and other variables.

You may want to have a report that shows different data than that available in any of the standard reports.  You might want to add a column to an existing report to show additional information or add a custom attribute to a report.  To make any of these changes, you must create a custom report.

You have several options for creating custom reports:

1. Use Interactive Report Designer to design the report using a visual interface.  This software takes some work to install and learn, but uses a visual interface where you can drag and drop report elements, and the software then writes the report code for you.

2. Manually edit the XSL files, then install them in the reports directory and add them as a report in the Reports tool.  This option is more technically challenging, involving writing XSL code in a text editor. We recommend using option 1 above whenever possible, instead of WebServices: Interactive Reporting in 25Live

3. Hire CollegeNET report developers for a fee. Please contact your account manager if you'd like to explore this option.

For all of these options, you can use our existing standard report files as templates.

Although Support can provide some assistance on Interactive Reports set up and use, troubleshooting your custom reports and code is outside the scope of the Technical and Functional Support maintenance agreement. For questions about this support limitation, please email your account manager at series25implementation@collegenet.com.
